簡介 Introduction

The Road to the World

The English teaching in WEGO has become a model for other people to imitate. As Nora Lewis, the vice-dean of the Language Course Center at Pennsylvania State University, said in an interview, “I had been to lots of schools in Asia, but no matter in courses or scale, WEGO is still the best. Even though someone may want to try and imitate them, it can’t be easily achieved.” Indeed, that is the trend at WEGO. Each year, there are many guests and friends from educational institutions, universities, and senior high schools who visit our school.

ESL Environment

There is a whole language environment in our International Education Department. When entering the department, the greeting words on the door, “You Are Entering the English Zone,” lead you to enter the English only environment. In addition, the 14 English classrooms and the spacious language lab give everyone’s learning attitude a start. Through many bright windows, we have a wonderful view. When entering the International Education Department, no matter which part of the curriculum is taught, you have to speak English. During the school year, in addition to the related holiday activities in class, on two bulletin boards, one at each end of the hall, are the foreign teachers’ planning and decorations with a monthly holiday theme. We hope to provide students with an English environment, not only in course, but in every aspect of this campus.

Excellent Foreign Teachers

The main characters in the International Education Department are the excellent foreign teachers. As WEGO requires, these teachers have a great deal of English teaching experience. Moreover, with English teaching licenses or qualified teaching certificates, they are also experienced writers of lesson plans. What is most important to mention is the foreign teachers’ devotion. To a certain degree, these teachers favor Confucius’ teachings and help remind students with kindness and eagerness. In addition to various teaching styles used to motivate students, teachers have them practice, again and again, during class. We are really proud to have these excellent teachers. As long as the students also devote themselves to learning while being receptive to teachers’ guidance, they will most definitely learn to their potential.

Small Classes

In listening and speaking, we emphasize individual dialogue practice first. The courses in the International Education Department are also small group courses. That means we have divided the students into three levels according to their English level, and there are about 15 students to a class. Teachers’ and students’ interaction and practice are for the purpose of achieving beneficial results. Furthermore, the grouping arrangement provides the best learning environment for students. In other words, for some basic level students this reduces stress, and gives higher level students more space to improve.
To be more precise, there will be different foreign teachers, each in a different classroom, teaching different levels, who use different level textbooks and different teaching methods in their classrooms to achieve the best learning. WEGO implements this model from junior high to senior high school to give students the maximum benefits of an English education.

Developing New Curriculum Systematically and Continuously

WEGO’s English courses start from kindergarten, go to elementary school, and continue through junior high and senior high school, and they are developed systematically. The topic lessons provide students the best learning environment. They also learn different language use for different occasions and situations. It is a dialogue class that also emphasizes vocabulary, grammar, and sentence patterns. In addition to dialogue in class, we also teach novels and opinion expression in senior high school. For the novels, students read and discuss them every week. Opinion expression trains students so they can learn how to express themselves and communicate with others.

International Study Program

When students and teachers hug each other and cry at the international study program farewell party every year, it brings back memories. Each year, at the end of the spring semester, the international study programs study is launched. We have parent and student support each year, and we continue to try and get better and better. To provide students the best program, the selection and survey process of cooperative schools is very strict. International study is an extension of WEGO’s English courses. We hope to experience the learning styles of English-speaking countries, which helps students use what they have learned and put it into action to enrich their lives and broaden their international view.
We have cooperated with Pennsylvania State University, the University of Edinburgh, the University of British Columbia, TUFTS University, and University College London, all of which are well-known universities, as well as NASA Space Center. Their academic level and teaching attitude are undoubtedly at the top in their continents. Moreover, these universities’ historical background, rich art and cultural atmosphere along with unique customs are all points learned in these programs.
The program arrangement is designed by the cooperating university. The content is diversified topics, and students are divided into different classes based on their level. It includes cultural topics, social activities, music and culture, and group conversation every week. They also visit famous locations to broaden students’ views of history. The tight courses and great teaching help students’ English ability progress more rapidly in a short time.

Conclusion

So as we can see, we can proudly say that WEGO’s teaching is always at its peak. As the government promotes English teaching with great effort, we feel fortunate and we are very proud. With great teachers and students with receptive attitudes toward teaching, we believe through our persistence and hard work, each of WEGO’s students will be more capable and well-mannered members of society.
