WEGO Mountain Program for many years, during the summer and winter vacations, goes overseas to get a feel for Japanese culture. There are a diverse variety of classes all adding to a new cultural experience, I.e. flower arrangement, traditional tea ceremonies, karate, building tree houses, bamboo crafts, independent Japanese cultural exploration, and Blue Tiger butterfly migration studies. There is a 3 day home-stay with a Japanese family in order to experience the home life in Japan. The camp also arranges some local sightseeing, social meets with local Japanese children, meeting the local mayor, visiting Lake Biwa, viewing exhibitions, and exploring Toei Kyoto Studio Park. The students get to see a lot of Japanese culture, but also take with them Chinese culture, ie Chinese Yo-Yo, Crosstalk (stand-up comedy), story-telling with bamboo clappers, and surprise the local Japanese residents.
The Taihu Great Learning Center is highly talked about in Taiwan and abroad because it is the only camp that includes outdoor education, cultural classes, meditation and spiritual classes, and the class contents are variable. An international team of teachers is made up of the best teachers from Japan, USA, New Zealand, South Africa, Korea, Hong Kong, Hungary, Taiwan, and China. The software and hardware at the school is world class. The highlight of the class is the spiritual education, which is the most needed but the least provided for people in today's society. Therefore, the focus has been for children to be taught meditative and spiritual concentration activities, which has become a radical new addition to modern education as seen by the outside world.
Such a diverse and knowledgeable class helps kids learn and grow happily. They can feel the teacher's energy, enthusiasm, and love. They learn how to reflect and to be grateful. WEGO is as always a pioneer in education and is continuing to focus on finding new ways to improve the system of education for our youth. This is WEGO's goal and purpose.
