Music Education

Music education at Wego aims to embed music into students’ everyday life, subtly cultivating their musicianship and shaping their characters. The music classes emphasize experiential learning, hoping to develop students’ aesthetic awareness and the ability to appreciate music as an art through different activities.

The music program includes basic rhythm and tone sensation training, an introduction to musicians and classical music from around the world, singing different kinds of music, playing instruments, music composition and arrangement, lyrics writing, as well as music appreciation and performances, etc. Combined with history, culture, and art, students can experience multi-cultural music through small group activities.

In addition to regular music classes, Wego arranges various activities to help students apply what they have learned to their daily lives.

Performances of Art Groups

Wego invites famous art groups from Taiwan and around the world to perform at the school every semester. We also take students to concerts, dance performances, and operas held in the National Theater and Concert Hall. Through the process, students learn how to appreciate art and develop appreciative manners and attitudes regarding musical performances.

School Concerts

Wego holds a school concert once a year, which is one of the biggest events on campus. Through the auditions and rehearsals, students who perform on stage always give the audience a wonderful musical experience. Every year we also invite parents to perform with their children, giving parents a chance to participate in school activities.

Music Column

Every week, music teachers at Wego choose one famous composer to introduce to the students during the Monday morning assembly. Students learn about the composer’s life and his/her influential works, and develop music analysis and appreciation skills. Throughout the week, a piece by the selected composer is also played during recess to immerse students in music in their daily lives.

Music Clubs

Wego has three music clubs-the junior high school choir, the senior high school choir, and the orchestra. The junior high school choir has earned numerous awards in Taipei City and national competitions. Once they even performed with the famous King of Opera, Plácido Domingo. The senior high school choir and the orchestra mainly perform for big school events and festivals. In addition, the senior high school choir forms a flash mob every year to sing Christmas carols in the communities around the school. Through this activity, students learn how to give back to the society, show gratitude to others, and help connect the school and the community.
