Mountain Program

Wego was the first secondary school in Taiwan to bring in the adventure and outdoor education developed in Western countries. The Mountain Program is conducted at the approximately 15-hectare Evergreen Farm, which is situated in the Yangming Mountains. The farm contains a wildlife preservation area, a farming area, and a fishpond. The program is designed around natural resources in the Yangming Mountains, including the terrain, and unique organisms, allowing young people to benefit from nature.

The purpose of the Mountain Program is to bring young people closer to nature, teach them to respect life, recognize the value of the natural environment and landscape resources, and cultivate team spirit while challenging the individual. The program consists of a trip to the Guandu Mangrove Conservation Area and a study of the Yangming Mountains' ecology. Training to strengthen physical ability and boldness includes rock climbs, vertical drops, nature walks, forest hikes, river crossings, and horsemanship. Differences in plant growth are observed and compared through soil cultivation and hydroponic planting. In the wilderness survival program, which is led by foreign teachers, small teams of students are taught to utilize maps and their surrounding environment, determine time and direction, overcome fear, and remain relaxed and confident in nature.
